I've been experimenting with the various ways to link to photos in Twitter.

This is a photo I recently upload to Flickr. This works well for blogging since I can create a blog post right in Flickr. I want to do the same thing for Twitter.

TwitPic allows you to upload and create a Tweet for Twitter. It's easy enough to do but they seem to overcompress the pictures they host, so much that the compression artifacts are a little offputting.

28mm, f/4, maxing out at ISO 800?

This is mostly an outdoor camera, since you'd be hard pressed to shoot many interiors, especially without image stabilization (IS).

BTW, the G9 sensor measures 7.6 x 5.7 mm, and the DP1 is 20.7 x 13.8 mm, so that's 6x the area of the G9. I don't think you can get a good image at ISO 800 with the G9, but then again it has IS.

If it were 35 mm, f/2 with close focusing, and an acceptable IQ at ISO 1600, it might be doable for <$800.

It will go for $999.

Sony flagship model Alpha DSLR will get 24.8 megapixel CMOS full-frame sensor

Sony has revealed a few details of its forthcoming flagship model for the Alpha Digital SLR range. The as-yet unnamed model will use the 24.8 megapixel full-frame image sensor that was revealed recently and will be available by the end of 2008. Sony did not reveal any details of pricing.

I still think the Nikon will be shopping around for this or something similar for the D3x.

Sigma announces DP1 for this spring

This opens the possibility that the other major digital camera manufacturers will produce something similar. Many folks with DSLR systems want a compact camera that can shoot raw and hold up well under low light conditions.

This has a fixed focal length                 16.6mm F4 (28mm equiv.) lens which is probably the best focal length for the majority of situations.

It might even dissuade a quite a few people from buying a DSLR, which although offering the ability to change lenses, most time you don't want to carry around all that weight.

Will we see a Nikon D3x based on the Sony 24.8 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor?

We already have the recently released 12 mp full-frame CMOS Nikon D3 which is suited to the sports shooter with its ability to shoot 9 frames per second (fps) @ 12 mp, 11 fps @ 5 mp.

A D3x version designed for studio work would fill the hole for a Nikon model to compete with the 21 mp Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III.

Lucky Scoble who is using a Nikon D3 for a month while he enjoys his time in Davos. He's posting on his Flickr account. He has some really nice available light shots since this camera is able to perform quite well at ISOs as high as 25,600.
