He's acting in a consultant role these days in grassland conservation. From the Web site which offers his services:
Meet Ian Kurtz: He has been involved with grassland conservation throughout his 35 year career with Natural Resources Conservation Service.
Ian and his son Jamie also own and operate a cow-calf operation, as well as do some custom grazing of feeder cattle for other producers. In their own operation they use warm and cool season grasses and legumes along with a managed intensive grazing system. They also do a significant amount of stock piling of fescue to reduce or eliminate the need to feed hay during the winter months.
I'm thankful for his gentle manner, and his dedication to my sister in their marriage of 36 years. Camille has a wry sense of humor which I think she inherited from Grandma Catherine Althea Williams, so kudos to Ian for being a good husband, father (Eric, Heather, and Jamie) and now grandfather times 3.
He got me started in photography when he lent me his Asahi Pentax 35mm camera which he bought during his stint in the military in Okinawa. I like that very professional-looking walking stick.
