I got a tip from Jeffrey Saad to check out Kalustyan's for urfa biber, the smokey turkish ground pepper.

I think this is a great example of chiaroscuro.

Another recipe that includes bacon, along with a Red Lobster ad featuring the dish created by Jeffrey Saad, recently defeated by Mel the Magnificent.
His recipe was really based on barramundi, but changed to tilapia by Red Lobster for some reason. Jeffrey might consider taking his "cooking without borders" (not "Ingredient Smuggler" as suggested by Alton), to a Web-based venue. TV is too expensive to produce, and requires a lot more ad money to pull off. You can produce Web content, quicker, less expensively, and reach the dedicated, hardcore foodies.
Jeffrey, good luck.

Word is, a book is in the works. Please not another diet book. “The Sardine Diet.”
You can get plenty of omega 3s from flax seed, walnuts, etc. This is one more complicated kitchen ritual, that no one will follow, but seems brilliant.
Meanwhile, on the other FN shows, they’re pushing BBQ, bacon, butter and Red Lobster. Go figure.
And did Alton give up cooking all those cakes and pastry, as well as the deep fat fried foods so typical of the Southern cuisine he promotes? What made him see the light (or lite)?
(The photo is from a recent promo for the new season of Iron Chef America.)

This is what I'm talking about when I say the perfect crust.

That's sesame seeds, kosher salt, toasted garlic, toasted onion, and poppy seeds.

This prep for a recipe looked so good, I decided to honor it in its raw state.
It's much easier to manage bacon when it's cut into "lardons."
I have to admit that photographing cooked bacon is a little trickier, but I'll get around to it.

I'm updating, revising, editing my online photo portfolio on Pbase.
Most of the images are of food, either prepared, fresh or still growing. Almost all the images have been scaled down to a maximum of 1280 pixels on the longest dimension. Pbase also compresses unless you're looking at the size marked "original" (which is not the original, but the full size of the scaled-down image I uploaded).
Once I look over this work, I'll probably have a clearer idea of what I want to shoot in the near future. So, everything I have up there now is bound to change.
Thanks for looking.
